Healing With Massage And Essential Oils

Long before I was a housewife, I was a certified massage therapist. I never ended up sticking to this as a career because I really wanted something where I didn't have to pay rent for a place for my business and also a place to live, fresh out of high school and wanting to go to college to follow my real passion (caring for animals as a Veterinarian) just made massage as a job not part of my 5 year plan. I completed my veterinary studies and got my degrees and moved on with my life, but I never forgot what I learned as a massage student, and today I use this to heal and to help my family relax and feel better after a rough day.

I'm talented at many things in my household but massage and knowledge to heal my family is one of my best talents, and not something I generally talk about to anyone, but I decided to finally because I feel it's something great to share in case anyone else is looking for ideas and ways to wind down and relax. :)

Massage is more than healing aches and pains. The benefits are far greater than that. It heals anxiety, releases stress and toxins, and it rejuvenated and brings peace of mind and mental clarity.

My husband thinks he is the one relaxing when I give him massages. He is wrong. Adorable. But wrong. ;)

Each day I use fresh, soft white sheets and towels that I spritz with pillow mist (I use a variety of scents for this, depending on what mood I intend to set).

I light candles, setting the mood by turning out lights in my massage room and closing curtains enough to darken the room and create a dim lighting. (During the day, I leave the curtains and windows open so we can hear nature outside).

I then light incense or heat oils. I'm a huge advocate for holistic healing and aromatherapy is a big must for me when I am taking care of my man after his long crazy day.

I always rub sandalwood or lavender lotion on myself prior to a massage. Again, this creates relaxation due to aromatherapy and I love that my body's scent can speak of peace and sanctuary to my hubby without me saying a word.

I use one of my trusty essential oil blended massage oils and give my husband a full body massage.

I also start playing soothing music or soothing nature sounds prior to each session. Our favorites are the sounds of a big thunderstorm with rain, or Celtic, feng shui and also ocean sounds.

In the background my water fountains flow and the atmosphere is so soothing and relaxing, it rejuvenates both of us ;).
